Satyajit Ray.... The revolutionist of Indian Cinema


 Satyajit Ray was a legendary filmmaker who was one of the greatest directors in the history
of cinema. He is widely regarded as the master of Indian cinema. He was born on May 2,
1921, in Kolkata, India. He was a true renaissance man and he also made significant
contributions to music, film, literature, etc. He is credited with revolutionizing cinema.
One of his famous movies is " The Apu Trilogy" which describes the life of a young Bengali
boy named Apurba. These movies are made between 1955 and 1959. These movies are the
masterpieces of Indian cinema. The Apu trilogy has won numerous awards.
Besides that, Satyajit made several other films like Charulata(1964), The Big City(1963), and

Ray was also a prolific writer and
illustrator who wrote many kinds of books, including a series of detective novels featuring the
character Faluda.In addition, he was also an accomplished graphic designer.
Satyajit Ray won several awards and honors both in India and around the world. Ray was an
amazing director who directed 36 films including documentaries, feature films, and stories.
His first film was "Pather Panchali" which won eleven International prizes. He authored a
different kinds of short stories and novels for teenagers. He received many major awards
including a Golden Lion, 36 Indian national film awards, two Silver bears, a Golden Bear at
International film festivals, and an Academy honorary award in 1992. He was also a
screenplay writer, magazine editor, illustrator, calligrapher, and so on. Satyajit ray accepted
his Oscar at the 64th Academy from his hospital bed. This personality passed away on April
23, 1992, but his work continues to inspire filmmakers and artists around the world.
