Why you need to start reading books.
By Rafiad Zaman Khan
Today, let us talk about "Reading".
As human begins, we all thrive for personal pleasure, enjoyment, and fulfillment. And for hundreds, if not, thousands of years we are acquiring these via so many ways and there has been no better option than reading books. By reading, I meant thousands of them.
Now, fast forward to this highly technologically advanced generation, and we have forgotten our great friends of all time, the books. Instead of books in our hands, we have modern devices and those devices are forcing us to live our life like we are living in a simulation, an illusion. But at the end of the day, we all need a great friend to make our body and soul calm down, to get rid of our stress, and to find our very own personal pleasure.
It is true that not many people can get out of that illusion and gain control over themselves. But for those who have already succeeded, the majority of them diverted their minds towards reading books of different genres and found their very own personal friend, a friend who is there to support them anytime they are in need of that.
There are some clearly visible and scientifically proven reasons based on which I am claiming that you should start reading as soon as you can.
1. Increases Brain functionality: While reading, the human brain functions slightly differently. let us imagine that you are reading a novel. To grasp all the things the novel has to offer, you need to remember all the characters, all the plots, previous incidents, and many other things. Most of the time you will find yourself imagining all the incidents taking place in front of your eyes. How? Because your brain is processing all the information you have gathered throughout the reading that far and creates an imaginary scene of that current incident you are reading now. In this process, many neurons that have been lying idle and not doing that much work, jump right to processing all the information and create a dramatic world for you, only for you. This helps our brain to calculate and process anything much more efficiently than before and increases the functionality of the brain as a whole.
2. Improves vocabulary: Though it seems unimportant, the vocabulary that is increased by reading books is helpful for both native English speakers and English learners all around the world. More vocabulary means you can deliver any message of yours in a much more dramatic way which is appealing to the person the message is sent to. This not only increases your personal status but also gives you a feeling of personal achievement.
3. Source of motivation: Books are of many kinds and people read totally by their own choice. Fiction or non-fiction every genre has the ability to motivate any people who want to be motivated. Though, in the case of giving motivation, non-fiction books tend to be a good choice. These have lots of stories of successful people and contain various tips and methods to achieve the mental preparation to gain personal achievements.
4. Decreases mental stress: We do not read books for nothing. We do this for enjoyment. While reading, our mind transports us into a whole new world. A world, the skeleton of which is strongly built by the writer, but the responsibility or, the freedom of decorating that world is completely in our hands, in the hands of the reader. We like to do that because we are building our very own personal interactive world after all. This freedom of creativity gives us a mental piece, let our stresses go away, and make our mind calm down. Recent research has told that reading can decrease mental stress by 68%.
So, after all the reasons that I have talked about, don't you feel the urge to get your mind diverted towards reading many books and improving yourself altogether? If your answer is yes, then welcome, welcome to the magical world of reading. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, and it will make you think. After you would have finished reading some books, you will find a dramatic change in yourself for sure. You will think differently, write differently, and talk differently. In a positive way. You will discover a new version of yourself, a better version indeed.
So, what are you waiting for?
